Oracle Database Monitoring

Background

IT-Conductor Oracle Database monitoring helps us track its performance based on the collected metrics, alerts, availability, and overall system health. IT-Conductor allows monitoring of several components such as SQL report automation, space usage, etc.

Features

One of the IT-Conductor platform features is monitoring the system's overall health. Monitoring the database's health is essential to ensuring it performs appropriately. Navigating to the Health container in the IT-Conductor service grid will show the different components of the system that can be monitored. Expanding various features will give the visibility of all graphs and details that are synchronized on the time of other performance criteria.

Performance

Proactively monitoring the database's health can improve identifying performance issues that need attention. Different components such as buffer cache hit ratio, library cache, top SQL statements, etc., are readily available to monitor, provided by graphs and important details.

Program Global Area (PGA)

This is one of the memory areas that store data and the control information for a server process. The displayed graphs can easily show different metrics such as cache hit percentage, process count, etc.

System Global Area (SGA)

This is the other memory area that contains data buffers and control information for the Oracle instance. Several metrics, such as the Java pool free memory, buffer cache pools, etc., can be readily displayed in graphs. Unexpected changes in usage can be detected and can immediately implement any corrective actions.

Space Usage

An important component to monitor is Tablespace usage. Effectively tracking the data's growth in the Oracle database and setting thresholds as an early warning for space issues to prevent further problems. Under schema, a user's status such as account lock and password can be easily managed.

SQL Jobs

Automated SQL Job report is another feature in monitoring Oracle Database.

In the IT-Conductor service grid, navigate to the SQL Jobs container.

The following window will give you the option to create new reports, or you can use the available templates. In the list of SQL Jobs, click on the "Activity History" icon to show the reports in the particular job.

On the activity page, you can see the available performance reports. By clicking on the “Log” icon, you will see the complete log details of the particular report.
